Tonal Tuesday: Provence Nouveau

Tonal Tuesday: Provence Nouveau

You know that whole French Country chic thing that is pretty perfect for kitchens? Let’s modernize it! Brighter, bolder, better. Kitchens are meant to be yellow. Particularly when they have black & white checkered linoleum. Add in cobalt fiestaware and a KitchenAid stand mixer in Ice and bingo, bango: Provence Nouveau.

  1. In a conversation with a girlfriend a week or so ago, we discovered that we both assumed that the entire world knew that kitchens are meant to be yellow. (It turns out we both grew up in kitchens with decor hangovers from the late 70s). I say, “Bring it back!” I am craving a tart yellow kitchen. The black and white (rather than sludgy brown) would lend a modern graphic feel. Bravo!

  2. thank you! 70s kitchens were pretty darn awesome! That avocado green & harvest gold are really lovely colors (just usually not together!). I wonder what percentage of kitchen are actually yellow?
